What's For Dinner?!-Spaghetti

What's For Dinner?!

This will hopefully be an ongoing series where I will post recipes and meals that I make for my family. It's not only for you to enjoy but secretly it will also help me out so I don't forget the meals I can add into my rotation! I have a terrible memory, I tell ya. I will also let you know what the family thinks of it, if it's a new recipe I've never tried before and whether I'll make it again. I do this "experimenting" a lot, fyi.

Onward! What's for dinner tonight you ask? We are keeping it super simple. I mean stupidly simple because we all need a recipe like that in our lives. We are making spaghetti tonight! Everyone has their favorite spaghetti recipe I'm sure. Again, this one is simple but flavorful! It's a quick, under 30 min recipe.

Who doesn't like spaghetti?

Get a pot of water boiling and get out your favorite pasta. Hubby says I use a different kind of pasta every time. Is that a good thing? Probably not 😄 What can I say, I'm trying to find the yummiest, healthiest pasta out there. Today I'm using Banza chickpea spaghetti noodles.

They have the same color as normal pasta and they get pretty soft as well. E didn't like them and took an hour to eat her dinner. She loves spaghetti too if that tells you anything. They have a hint of a different taste and picky eaters may notice. So, continuing on...

Get your salted water boiling and get a separate skillet for your ground meat of choice. Set the skillet to medium-high and add your meat. I'm using ground turkey tonight because that's what I have on-hand. Ground bison is THE BEST meat to use for this recipe! Give it a try sometime and let me know what you think.
Start cooking your meat and season it with garlic salt. Sprinkle it all over.. and then sprinkle some more, go on.. you can do it. Here's the kind I use:
Start breaking it up into little pieces and cooking till it's no longer pink. My best friend got me this AMAZING meat grinder upper. I have no idea the official term for it but you need it in your life. It cuts the time breaking up meat in half and it's wonderful and... just go get one. Here:

The water should be boiling now for your pasta so go ahead and put that in and cook 8-10 min or according to box instructions.

Once meat is cooked through get your pasta sauce and Italian seasoning. No, I'm not making it from scratch. I'm a mom with 2 little and 1 big hungries that are already asking me for snacks while I'm cooking this dinner. I ain't got time for that. I use Prego Garden Chunky.

Pour the jar over the meat and set temperature to Low and simmer. After you pour out the sauce, I bet there is leftover sauce in the jar right? Go ahead and fill some water in there, maybe a half cup, and close the lid and swirl it around and pour into your pan to get every last drop out of there.
Now, add a lot of Italian seasoning all over. Once you think you've added a lot, then add some more.
I think I added even more after this...

Before you drain your pasta get about 1/4 cup of the cooking water out of there. Then drain and add back to pot and put a sliver of butter on top. Sprinkle some water in there to keep the noodles from sticking and set aside.

And... You're done! Plate your food with whatever veggie and sides you'd like and voila!
Go ahead and sprinkle parmesan over everything! You deserve it, you made dinner.

Tried this recipe? Let me know what you think!

Until next time ~Bee🐝
